Technique
The technique of a water injected exhaust system with under water outlet is very specialised.
At MarQuip we use specialised nozzles which are placed inside the exhaust pipe. By doing so, we have much more control over the water drop size and thus the cooling of the exhaust gas without having hot spots in the pipe.
When applying an under water exhaust another essential part is the so-called "scoop". This MarQuip designed special cap is based on tank tests and advanced computer models.
Furthermore wet exhaust systems are easily affected by corrosion. That is why MarQuip's extensive knowledge of various types of stainless steel results in a relatively light system with high resistance to wear.
Once the layout of the exhaust has been designed, we take special care of reducing the vibrations transferred from the exhaust system to the ship's structure. This is done by placing anti-vibration mounts, compensators and rubber bellows in crucial positions.
